I am actually a science major, so I don’t know about your future goals, but I would recommend PSU for it’s great environment, awesome professors, and just that it is located in one of the more gorgeous areas of town, with so much cultural venues- such as a museum, 3 performance...

cuterest-uterus asked: As a native Portlander, person of color, and queer lady I would have to say that Portland is pretty safe from the overt racism/homophobia you might encounter other places. If someone is going to mistreat you, it will generally be covert. There are fantastic opportunities to find a sense of safety and community. SO MANY RESOURCE CENTERS FULL OF AWESOME PEOPLE BOTH ON AND OFF CAMPUS! Good luck to...
dirtylakes-deactivated20111118 asked: OKAY I saw all the answers to my question! Hahah I'm the Jamaican! My mom always try to make the world seem scary! But I'm moving to Portland this fall :D
hello-hello-again-deactivated20 asked: Being the cycling city that it is, what is the best bike shop to buy a good & cheap bike for basic city commute do you think?
oncewild asked: For the person asking about racism in Portland, I think we have to be honest and say, yeah, as Progressive as Portland likes to present itself, there's racism here (& that's not unique to Portland). There's certainly a lot of white privilege in this city, but I don't think that that's reason enough not to attend school where the poster wants to. There's not a...

magicacid asked: In response to the "only Jamaican in Portland"- I just moved to Portland about 3 or so days ago for school (I go to Reed). I'm Jamaican too, so no, don't worry, you're not the only one. :]
jasonmeanz asked: I have an answer! (I'm half black and grew up in Portland) Even though a majority of Portland is white, it is filled with people who like to consider themselves very open, progressive and loving people. Especially people in the inner city. Even if someone was prejudiced towards people of other races, no one would DARE say so. They'd get yelled at for hours. It would be as if the entire...

Anonymous asked: So I applied to go to the arts institute in Portland. I'm black and my mom is from this racist town called Guthrie Oklahoma. She said if I go to Portland that I would be the only jamiacan there and that all the white people would treat me "unfairly". And I KNOW that isn't true. I really wanna move to portland. Can you help me explain to her that it is no longer 1960?!!!!!!!!!!
